Lampshade Project

I love architecture; the process of designing and building, the support structure that we don’t see. It’s what makes our buildings stand and safe. It’s the crinoline that holds up the dress; the skeleton that gives form to lampshades.

Lampshades come in a myriad of shapes and sizes: round, square, large, small, pleated, lined, or not. The process of removing the fabric and stitching revealed the simplicity and elegance of the structures. When combined with others, a cohort was created, reminiscent of the female figure.

A special thanks to Jill, owner of Lampshades Plus, Orange, CT, for generously allowing me to take lampshades waiting for another chance.
